Heather’s passion for dog training blossomed in 2017 when she and her dog Kitty undertook the process of training to become an approved Therapy Dog Team with Caring Canines Visiting Therapy Dogs, Inc. Since then, in addition to visiting countless schools, assisted living facilities and hospitals (which they still do), they became members of the Boston Children’s Hospital Caring Canines Entertainment Team. Heather also serves as a mentor for incoming therapy dog teams and is currently training to become a Therapy Dog Evaluator.
During the summer, in addition to continuing her work as a private trainer, Heather volunteers her time with the North Country Animal League in Morristown, Vermont where she teaches a basic obedience group class to new dog owners, and works with NCAL campers (ages 4 to 13) in weekly instruction sessions focused on dog training and handling skills. Heather also volunteers as a trainer working with new dog adopters at Sweet Paws Rescue in Massachusetts.
Heather is a graduate of the CATCH Canine Trainers Acadamy Master Dog Trainer course, a registered member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers (APDT) and the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC).
